Bibles and Books

ESV Illuminated Scripture Journals

These scripture journals have been invaluable to me. With ample space for notes, highlighting, and personal reflections, they’ve accompanied me through various books of the Bible.

I have used them in studying through Psalms, Proverbs, Mark, Ephesians, Colossians, and Hebrews.

They’re also available in convenient sets for the Old and New Testaments.

Women of the Word: How to Study the Bible with Both Our Hearts and Our Minds by Jen Wilkin

Last summer the ladies in my church read this together. Talk about radically changing my perspective on how I read and study the Bible!

This insightful book isn’t just for women—it’s for anyone seeking to unlock the full potential of their Bible study sessions.

Praying the Bible by Donald Whitney

I listened to this book on a 6-hour ride last spring. It opened my heart to focus on incorporating prayers found in scripture into my own prayer life.

While this book primarily focuses on the Psalms I have begun to practice this with my boys. In the mornings before we start our day, I gather both my boys on my lap and we ask God to let the Fruit of the Spirit be evident in how we treat one another.

Those couple minutes have started to transform how our days play out!

E-Reader

My husband bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 a while back for reading textbooks. It has been a while since he’s used it so I snagged it.

I love to read scripture in several versions ranging from word-for-word translations to concept-for-concept translations.

It is way easier to read on the tablet compared to my phone. It’s not necessary, but it sure makes my Bible study time go smoother.

Journaling Tools

Sermon Notes Journal

This journal’s simple layout makes it easy to keep notes organized. I can easily refer back to the verses used without searching through all my notes. I also like that I can quickly jot down the bullet notes that our pastor provides so I can glance back through to remember the highlights.

Another option is using small notebooks for each study. They are small enough to slip into my purse and don’t take up much room in my book basket.

Gel Highlighters and Pens

I don’t like traditional highlighters because so many of them will bleed through pages. I have several different kinds of gel highlighters and these are the ones I use daily.

The Mr. Pen set has matching pens and highlighters. Perfect for when you are tracking words or themes in a book.

Magnetic Bookmarks

Say goodbye to lost bookmarks with these handy magnetic bookmarks. (here and here) Their durability ensures they stay put. All my books have these in them and I never lose my spot.

Miscellaneous and Gifts

Morning Baskets

Out of all the 10 Bible study accessories, this is one you probably already have lying around.

I have different kinds of book baskets all over the house. All my books, markers, journals, and notebooks live in a galvanized basket by ‘my spot’ on the couch.

We also have a library basket, quiet-time basket, magazine basket, and school morning basket. You can tell I like book baskets.

A basket helps to keep everything from growing legs and walking off. Nothing is worse than sitting down with a plan and realizing you can’t find what you need.

Mr. Pen- Bible Journaling Set: Selah Collection

Looking for a thoughtful gift for yourself or a loved one? This journaling gift set has everything you need to kickstart your creative journaling journey.

Pen Pouch

My husband got me this beautiful pouch for Christmas.  I have another pink one that I also use.

Protect your pens and highlighters from little hands. It’s a practical accessory that adds a touch of personality to your study supplies.

So there you have it, 10 of my favorite Bible study accessories! Remember, while these tools aren’t essential for Bible study, they’ve significantly enriched my journey.  I hope that you may have found something you can use too.
